Product Review - Marc Anthony True Professional Haircare

Recently, I attended a private showcase for the launch of celebrity hairstylist Marc Anthony's new line of haircare, Marc Anthony True Professional, launching islandwide next month. It was indeed an exciting event, as artistic director of Marc Anthony Salon, Marilisa Sears, did a live hair demonstration using products from the new range on three lovely models for those at the event to see.

Marc Anthony is a celebrity hairstylist to all the A-list starlets on the red carpet. His list of cientelle include big name Hollywood celebrities like Paris Hilton, Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, Coldplay, Fergie, Justin Bieber, and his hair work on these stars are nothing short of amazing! It was indeed an honour for me to be invited to the launch of Marc Anthony True Professional, and have the opportunity to get a first sneak preview of all the different hair products which are going to be available in Singapore from June onward. Product Review - Marc Anthony True Professional Haircare

 

From the event, I got to go home with a bag of goodies to put to the test from the Marc Anthony True Professional Haircare range, and I've to say, I've tried some of them and am really impressed! I am extremely particular when it comes to haircare products, so far I've only settled for professional salon brands like Redken and L'Oreal Professionnel, which may come pricey, but Marc Anthony's new haircare range has proven to me that drugstore brands can also be effective, what more at a more affordable price!

 

Marc Anthony True Professional Damage Repair Shampoo & Conditioner, $16.90 each

Review: I was particularly drawn to this range when I first saw it, mainly because I am one of those people guilty of indulging in harsh chemical processes for hair such as permanent coloring and lots (and lots!) of heat styling on a daily basis. I used this product the night I got it, and personally, I found that the shampoo was a little harsh on my hair. After one wash with the shampoo, my hair felt a little coarse, and got slightly tangled, even though it was short, most probably due to the clarifying ingredients in the product. The conditioner, however, was a dream to use. The texture of the conditioner was very rich and creamy, the way a potent conditioning product is supposed to be, and just a little of it eased out most of the tangles in my hair which I got from the shampoo. After wash and dry, my hair felt really soft and manageable, and I especially love that this range did not weigh down my hair at all, which makes it suitable for those with oily scalp problems too. Having used the product for only one day, I did not manage to notice a huge difference in the strength of my hair, but I did notice that I got less breakage on my hairbrush after one wash.

Review: I've always been a fan of shiny, healthy looking hair. For years, I've tried almost every shine-enhancing hair product you can imagine, to give my dull hair back its lustre and shine. However, after much experimentation, I find that most of the shine-enhancing hair products on the market go a little too heavy on the silicones, the key ingredient which coats the hair cuticle to give it shine, and because of this, hair tends to go flat, greasy and oily really quickly. In such humid weather like Singapore, that would be the last thing you'd need! I've been using this range of product for two days now, and I absolutely love it. The shampoo is not too drying on its own, and the conditioner is rich and heavenly. After every use, my hair dries extra shiny and surprisingly, extra moist too. I usually put on a serum to give my hair a little moisture boost, but with this product, I didn't need to. What I liked about the product too is that it was lightweight, and didn't make my hair go flat and lifeless like the other products I've tried. These two haircare products are my new must-haves in my shower bag!

Marc Anthony True Professional Dream Waves Beach Spray, $21.90 each

Dream Waves Beach Spray is a beach 'genie' in a bottle. It creates natural, effortless, beach hair worn loose, soft and wavy. It adds body and texture to straight, find strands or pumps up the curl in already wavy hair. Hydrolized Silk and Provitamin B5 protect your tresses while adding moisture and shine. Powerful UV Protectors absorb ultraviolet light to save your mane from harmful sun exposure.

Review: I was pretty excited to receive this product as part of the goodie bag, after hearing glowing reviews about it and how it is used by many of the A-list Hollywood Stars to achieve red carpet curls and waves. I got the opportunity to test the product out on a friend who had straight hair which lied flat, and I've to say, the product really delivers! A few spritz of the product in the root and ends, I curled her hair and the end result was big, wavy hair full of texture and volume. I didnt put any hairspray in her hair after curling, and it stayed nice and wavy throughout the day, and the best part was that it didn't frizz, despite the humid weather. Thumbs up for this product!
