The Prodigal Son: Australian Fashion Week 2011

A few months back, I styled hair for a campaign shoot for the designer of The Prodigal Son, Erin Loh, as part of a feature for Australian Fashion Week 2011. The entire concept of the shoot was dreamy and dishevelled in terms of the styling, hence we went for hair that was ruffled and full of volume, with hair extensions and little braids to add that dreamy touch. Take a look!

Bridal Hair & Make-Up - Jacqualine

Sometime back, I did hair and make-up for an actual day wedding for one of my clients, Jacqualine and for her mother-in-law as well. I was very excited to be able to doll Jacqualine up for her big day, and she requested a look that was natural and pretty, and I gave her just that. Take a look at some of the shots that I took!

Beauty Shoot with Daven Lee

Sometime back, I styled hair for a photoshoot put together by photographer Daven Lee. The concept of the shoot was to portray simplistic, clean, beauty, hence we settled for simple straight hair with extensions fixed in. Take a look!

Tips & Tricks - Natural Hair Treatments

Hey all! I've had a number of clients enquire with me on what is the best hair treatments available out there in the market. There are many fantastic haircare brands, like Redken 5th Avenue NYC, Tresseme, and Scwharzkopf to name a few, however, it is always a good option to go inexpensive, by trying out natural hair treatments which you can make right in the comfort of your own home. These formulations are organic, chemical-free, easy on your budget, and they're great for your tresses.

Condition & Shine! - Natural Hair Treatments

1. Egg Hair Mask - For Smoothness & Shine

This treatment is excellent to achieve smoothness and shine in your hair. Eggs contain a powerful conditioning agent for hair, which will help to soften dry, frizzy hair, making it more manageable and smooth. Directions for this hair treatment are as follows:

1. Blend two eggs with 2 tablespoons of water and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
2. Massage concoction into damp hair
3. Leave for 10-15 minutes in hair
4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm (not hot) water.

2. Banana Hair Mask - For Dry Hair & Split Ends

Bananas are excellent for softening the hair, promoting elasticity, therefore preventing the hair shaft from split ends. This treatment is suitable for dry to very dry hair, and when used on a regular basis, makes the hair shaft more manageable, soft and healthy. Directions for this hair treatment are as follows:

1. Mix together 1 mashed banana, 3 tablespoons of honey, 3 tablespoons of milk, 5 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 egg to a medium consistency.
2. Apply to damp hair and massage it into the shaft so that it is evenly distributed
3. Leave on the hair for up to 30 minutes
4. Rinse thorougly with lukewarm (not hot) water
5. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual

3. Yoghurt Hair Mask - For Thick & Rebellious Hair

This treatment is suitable for very dry hair. Yoghurt contains a heavy conditioning agent, suitable for thick and rebellious hair. However, those with fine hair are not recommended to use this treatment as it might leave the hair looking limp and greasy. Directions for this hair treatment are as follows:

1. Prepare by blending 7 tablespoons of plain, natural yoghurt with 1 beaten egg white
2. Apply to damp hair, massage through the roots to ends
3. Leave in the hair for up to 3o minutes
4. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm (not hot) water
5. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual

4. Avocado, Honey & Olive Oil Hair Mask - For Very Dry & Damaged Hair

This hair treatment contains all of nature's greatest hair conditioners. Great for very dry to damaged hair, this hair treatment, when used on a regular basis, can help to repair the hair shaft and prevent split ends and act as an anti-frizz agent. Directions for hair treatment are as follows:

1. Scoop out 1 avocado into a bowl and mash well
2. Add in 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of olive oil and stir until well-blended
3. Start application from the ends, and work up to the roots
4. Leave on the hair for 30 minutes.
5. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm (not hot) water
6. Shampoo and condition as usual.
